Bruno BOUDJELAL

Transcribe your emotions / B. Boudjelal

These exciting five days, full of exchanges, experiments and immersions, will be above all devoted to how to express a sensitive, personal point of view on the world.
It will be about the stories that surround us, those of others, of another, of a place, of an era, of a desire... but also of one's own history.

Carefully accompanied by Bruno Boudjelal in carrying out a personal project, each person will weave, compose and articulate a set of photographs alongside him. Editing, the discussions, the choice of a distance, editing again, will be at the center.

Whatever the subject, the challenge will be to succeed in transcribing through the image not necessarily what we see, but what we feel or what we wish to make people feel. The approaches developed will draw on the numerous opportunities present in Arles and could be of very diverse natures. They will largely depend on the background, objectives and sensitivity of each person. Five passionate days, with real attention paid to everyone and the last day of which will be largely devoted to finalizing the series and how to present it.

BRUNO BOUDJELAL
Franco-Algerian photographer, member of Agence VU’, he lives and works between Paris and Africa.
Born in Montreuil in 1961, Bruno Boudjelal practices photography as a way of life that constantly questions his own identity and confronts us with ours.
In 1993, he followed in the footsteps of his paternal origins in Algeria. This discovery will be the starting point for 10 years of very personal explorations which lead him, between travel diary and testimony, to move from black and white to color, and to assume the subjectivity of his point of view. It subsequently broadens the boundaries of this journey and this adventure to other territories - distant or not - and testifies in particular to Pan-Africanism.
Regularly published in the press, winner of institutional grants and prestigious prizes - including the Nadar Prize in 2015 for his book "Algeria, closed as one closes a book?" - Bruno Boudjelal has published six monographs. His works have been included in French public collections, and are the subject of numerous exhibitions in France and around the world.
