This course, open to all, will leave a large place for sensations, atmospheres, the subjective, what surrounds us every day and that we sometimes forget to look at.
Five days that will allow us to specify a personal writing to tell life, our lives, to capture with simplicity suspended, precious and fragile moments, the beauty of the little nothings that sometimes say a lot about our human, universal condition, our relationship to others, to nature, to light.
After having exchanged around the photographs and the experience of each and every one, Alexandra Catiere will guide each person in the definition of a small personal subject, simple, avowed pretext to make images, to discuss them, select them, refocus, set aside and little by little make the images dialogue with each other.
The challenge will be to find one's approach, identify what is singular in one's gaze to then build a coherent whole, in line with one's sensations and one's own vision of the world.
The photographic material will also be discussed by playing with the texture of the photograph to support a feeling, an emotion.
On the last day, a selection of photographs will be exhibited, an opportunity to work on the arrangement, rhythm and interactions of the images between them.
Workshop held in French / translation possible on demand

ALEXANDRA CATIERE
Alexandra Catiere’s borderless journey is a testament to her desire to strive for the universal. From the former Soviet Union to France via the United States, this young photographer makes timelessness one of the major aspects of her creation. Resurrecting the humanist tradition, her images are those of sensations, of atmospheres that she succeeds in capturing. Without ever stopping at the genres of portraiture or reporting alone, Alexandra makes the camera the instrument of her empathy for human nature and life in particular.
Born in Minsk in 1978, Alexandra Catiere left for the United States after her studies in Modern Languages to follow a photography program at the International Center of Photography in New York, and worked in Irving Penn’s studio afterwards. She settled in France in 2008. In 2011 Alexandra received the BMW Prize at the Nicéphore Niépce Museum and exhibited at the Rencontres photographiques d’Arles. Since then, her work has been exhibited in numerous institutions such as the Centre National de l’Audiovisuel du Luxembourg, PhotoforumPasquArt in Bienne, Museo d’Arte Contemporaine di Roma and the Musée Nicéphore Niépce in Chalon-sûr-Saône. Represented by the In Camera gallery, her work is part of numerous public and private collections.
She is the recipient of the Prix Elysée 2018-2020, the Grande commande photographique du Ministère de la Culture, France in 2022-2023, the Prix Camera Clara 2024, and the Résidence INSTANTS, Château Palmer et LEICA, 2025.
