Vee SPEERS

Creating a personal language
Participants working with Vee Speers will at first let their feelings and instincts guide them. They will focus on the essential, exchanging ideas, choosing a distance and taking account of light. This first step will bring out a sensibility and a positioning and set the stage for developing an idea or a desire.

Each participant will receive support in carrying out a personal project that will take shape by experimenting, keeping what works, identifying what’s missing and surpassing the successes and overcoming the failures of the day before.

The goal will be to specify what characterises each individual’s photographic identity and to better understand not just what is being sought when photographs are taken but also what is kept during editing. A set of choices, consistent in both form and substance, will help participants develop a personal photographic language.

Leaving the technical aspects aside as much as possible, the approach will focus on what creates meaning in the photograph and on how the portrait will meet the person who sees it. It will be a matter of the gaze, influences, the way of being and the room left for instinct.
